Inspiration thru the years

I love, love, love to thumb through home decor magazines.  I've been know to hang on to some that are favorites for years.  About 20 years ago, I started ripping out some of my favorite pages and keeping them in a binder.  It's fun to look at every now and then and see how my tastes have changed!

These are some exteriors.

I still have a thing for baskets.

 Even some Christmas pages.
This garland is cute....I blogged over the holidays about a fabric one I made.  This one is like the construction paper loops my kids make.
I still want a good mudroom.
Love this towel rack in the bathroom.

 Great kitchen space.

The page to the right has a couple of cute ideas; magnetic scrabble tiles and clipboard art.
I actually painted my old dining room table based off this picture to the left.  It's gone on to another life now.
Want to incorporate some kind of corbel in my current kitchen.  Really like the architecture in this kitchen.
I've cleaned out the binder some and I'm planning to add to it this year.  Maybe weeding out a few magazines from 2008?!  I've even started a separate section for holidays.

  1. Wow Petie that is a great book to keep!!! I've never done anything like that but I should

  2. Mine are all in labeled file folders. I like how you did this because it is easier to look at than pulling all the files out.

I'm thinking I just need to cancel my mags and pull the old ones out during "their month".

  3. I just pitched my
    own notebook that
    was soooo similar
    to yours....Not only
    the binder, but the
    contents!! I'm all
    about Pinterest now ~
    kind of a virtual
    notebook : ) I also
    keep pics in an on-line
    decorating folder and
    am thinking of getting
    a hand-held scanner to
    upload magazine pics that
    are inspiring. I'm
    trying to stay afloat
    among all the paperwork
    on my desk!! Isn't it
fun to see how your taste
    changes {or doesn't} over
    the years? LOVE your blog
    and I will look forward
    to visiting as a new
    follower : )
    xx Suzanne

  4. I'm hoping to start one like that for craft plans since I can't do much with where we live. So much inspiration. Great idea.

  5. I need to organize my magazine tear outs! I have them stuffed in a box. After seeing how you have organized them, it is time for me to go and buy some binders.

  6. What a great idea! I need to start doing this instead of keeping the whole magazine.

  7. I love this!! I too have a few inspiration binders. Mainly old Country Living clippings that I was obsessed with!! Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and leaving such a comment! Your blog is great!

  8. I have some of those SAME inspiration pics in my folders!!! Love the scrabble tiles on the vintage lunch box. I really wanted to that year and even walked away from a red plaid lunchbox this past fall. (???what was I thinking?!) too $$ conscious I guess. Love the pics. Very homey and lovely.
