No More Red Chairs!

It's official!
No more red chairs in our kitchen.

(Did I mention that these 2 chairs with the rush seats were purchased
at the Goodwill several years ago for $8 each....I believe I'm getting my moneys worth!)

I'm not complaining (well, maybe a little), but this job wasn't a lot of fun.
I think it had something to do with all the spindles, the detail, the nooks and crannies, ugh!

The color is called "whole wheat".

It was actually a sample from our exterior house
painting job we had done a few months ago.

It looks pretty dull here.

Once I added some glaze (a.k.a. brown house paint used in kitchen/family room),
the chair began to have a little more character.

How do you like the cream and wheat combination?

I like how it looks against the wood flooring.

Who's ready for coffee?

I'm linking to the following parties:

  1. Oh, I love it!!!! What a great transformation. Question: have you ever had to re-cane one of those chairs? I have heirlooms chairs that really, really need it and I have no idea where to go.

    BTW, love that hydrangea! Beautiful.

  2. That is fantastic!!!!! You rocked it and look at the pay off! Gorgeous!

  3. I love a good re-do! The glaze really helped the details pop! It is beautiful. Great job!

I'm having a Target giveaway and a link party on my blog. I'd love it if you joined!

  4. I'll be over for some coffee! The chairs came out great! I know it's no fun to paint chairs but oh so worth it! Love it Petie!!

  5. Beautiful! It's so fulfilling to make "ugly" furniture beautiful with some paint and elbow grease!

  6. Thanks for stopping by The Hillside Home, Petie! The table and chairs look GREAT! Love the colors....
As far as my farmhouse nook table goes, we are going to put it in our breakfast nook in the kitchen. I think I am going to refinish the chairs that I am going to use with it and then decide what I'm going to do about the table---repaint or leave it chippy. I'm leaning towards chippy. :)

  7. Just beautiful. Love the chairs with glaze and the sanded table edge - great job!

I wanted to let you know about Atticmag's new linky party - Giveaway Friday! It's a convenient place for bloggers to link their giveaways each week. We've kicked it off with a fantastic giveaway of our own. Five lucky winners will win material to do a backsplash in their homes. Hope to see you there!

  8. They look great. I understand how much work it was because I did the same thing this week!

  9. LOVE it-you did a great job.
